Much-changed Spain takes late win against Switzerland in Nations League

Much-changed Spain takes late win against Switzerland in Nations League

Madrid, Nov 19 (UNI) An injury time penalty from substitute Bryan Zaragoza gave a much-changed Spain side a 3-2 win at home to Switzerland in its final UEFA Nations League qualifying match.
The Osasuna winger kept his calm to finish in the corner of the net to round off an entertaining match that Spain did enough to win.
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente gave Aitor Paredes, Samu and Pablo Barrios their debuts for Spain, who had already ensured its place in the tournament's knockout stages.
Despite that, Spain dominated the first half and had several chances defused by Switzerland keeper Yvon Mvogo, before Yeremy Pino put Spain ahead just after the half-hour.
Although Mvogo saved Pedri's penalty after Alvaro Morata had been fouled, Nico Williams volleyed towards goal and when his effort was cleared off the line, Yeremy was on hand to score from the rebound.
Switzerland substitute Joel Monteiro leveled in the 62nd minute after bundling his way past Paredes, but Bryan Gil put Spain back in front just five minutes later when he took advantage of indecision in the Switzerland defense to dribble past a defender and score with a left-foot shot.
Fabian Ruiz then gifted Switzerland the chance to equalize again from the spot with eight minutes to play and Andi Zeqiri made no mistake past Robert Sanchez, who had a nervous 45 minutes in Spain's goal after replacing Alex Remiro at halftime.
It looked as if the game was set to end in a draw, but Zaragoza drew a foul in the Switzerland area deep into injury time and finished cooly to keep the feel-good factor high for De la Fuente's side.
