Mizoram official sentenced to two years in Ghost employee scam; jail term paused over health

Aizawl, Dec 10(UNI) A Special Court under the Prevention of Corruption Act has sentenced a senior official of the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) in Mizoram to two years’ simple imprisonment for siphoning off government funds through ghost employees. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the convict, J T Topa, a resident of New Colony-3 in Siaha town.

Odisha :youth sentenced to 20 years RI for kidnapping and raping a minor girl student

Kendrapara, Dec 10 (UNI) A special judge under POCSO Act on Wednesday convicted a 26-years-old youth and sentenced him to 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) with a fine of Rs 70,000 for his involvement in kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl.
The convict Biswajit Sahoo of Jamara village under Nikirai police limit had allegedly kidnapped and raped the minor girl studying in class 10 at a local private school, under Kendrapara town police limit last March, said Manoj Kumar Sahoo, the Special Public Prosecutor of Additional District Judge-cum-special judge(POCSO).
