Maha: Medicover Hospital performs rare simultaneous liver-kidney transplant

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nov 13 (UNI) A team of doctors at the city-based Medicover Hospitals has marked a significant milestone in healthcare by successfully performing for first-time in Marathwada a rare and complex simultaneous liver-kidney transplant (SLKT) recently, giving a 41-year-old patient a renewed chance at life.
Dr Sachin Soni, nephrologist along with Dr Sharan Narute, liver transplant specialist, led a multidisciplinary team including Dr Mayur Dalvi (urologist), Dr Swaroop Borade (general surgeon), Dr Chetan Rathi (gastroenterologist) and dedicated anesthetists, radiologists, and pathologists, in performing this life-saving procedure.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Dr Soni said that the patient, a known case of chronic kidney disease (CKD) under his care, was also diagnosed with decompensated chronic liver disease (DCLD) and urgently needed a dual-organ transplant.

Permanent mechanism should be set up for procuring soybean: Maha CM

Mumbai, Jan 13 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday directed the state marketing department to set up a permanent system for procuring soybeans without any hindrance.Fadnavis was speaking at a review meeting of the work to be done by the Marketing Department in 100 days at Sahyadri Guest House here.He stated that agro-hubs with all facilities should be established along the Samruddhi Highway under the Maharashtra Agribusiness Network (MAGNET) Project.Fadnavis also gave instructions for preparing and submitting a plan for setting up agro hubs in all four divisions of the state.Fadnavis said the preparations should be completed for procuring soybeans in November from next year in the state and the registration of farmers should also be completed in October.The criteria should be decided for the system to be established permanently for the procurement of soybeans, he said.
