Court adjourns Rahul Gandhi defamation case to December 6

Thane, Nov 15 (UNI) A district court in Thane has deferred the hearing in a defamation case filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, with the matter now scheduled for December 6. The case came up before Bhiwandi Joint Civil Judge, Junior Division, P M Kolse on Saturday, when the adjournment was granted.
During the hearing, complainant Rajesh Kunte’s counsel, advocate Prabodh Jaywant, moved an application seeking the court’s permission to examine Ashok Saykar, Inspector of Nizampura police station, as a witness. The request followed an earlier direction issued by the court instructing the police station to conduct an inquiry and place its findings on record. Inspector Saykar subsequently submitted the investigation report, leading the complainant to seek his examination regarding the contents of the document.
The matter had originally been fixed for further proceedings on November 29. However, advocate Narayan Iyer, representing Rahul Gandhi, sought an adjournment, informing the court that Gandhi’s legal team would be unable to appear on that date. Accepting the request, the court rescheduled the case for December 6.
