Amin Patel seeks 6-month extension for UMEED portal compliance; Technical challenges hamper Waqf property registration process

Mumbai, Nov 15 (UNI) Maharashtra Congress Deputy Leader Amin Patel has urged the union Ministry of Minority Affairs to extend the December 5 deadline for uploading Waqf property details on the central government’s UMEED portal, citing widespread technical and procedural challenges faced by religious institutions across India.
In a letter to union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Patel forwarded a detailed representation from the All India Sunni Jamiyatul Ulama, outlining serious implementation difficulties encountered by Waqf administrators.
According to the organisation’s communication, the Waqf Property update Portal has been plagued by persistent technical malfunctions and slow system performance, delaying digital submissions.
