9 dead, 5 injured in traffic accident in Tunisia

Tunis, Sep 25 (UNI) Nine people were dead, and 5 others were injured in a traffic accident in Tunisia's Kairouan Province, about 170 km south of the capital Tunis.

The traffic accident occurred Sunday evening on the road linking the cities of Nasrallah and Manzil Al-Mahiri in Kairouan, Regional Director of Civil Protection in Kairouan, Hamdi Al-Wassif, said in a statement broadcast Monday morning by local radio "Mosaique FM."

He explained that the accident resulted from the overturn of a truck carrying 12 people: 10 were sub-Saharan African nationalities, and two were Tunisians.

Among the nine killed, eight are from sub-Saharan African countries and one is Tunisian, he said, adding that the 5 injured were transferred to hospitals.
