Yunus asks administrators to carry out tasks with commitment ahead of 2026 polls

Dhaka, Nov 17 (UNI) Bangladesh interim government Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus asked the nation's deputy commissioners to carry out their duties with "absolute honesty, neutrality and dedication," ahead of the elections and national referendum on February 2026, which he said would be "unprecedented" in its national impact.
Addressing a coterie of 50 newly appointed district commissioners and administrators from all 64 districts at the Chief Advisor's Office, Yunus said the coming polls would be unlike any previous national election, reports Business Standard BD.
The ballot will include a nationwide referendum tied to the July Charter reforms, adding what he described as "historic significance" to the process.
