China to boost cooperation within BRICS despite Trump’s threats to slap tariffs - Beijing

Beijing, Dec 3 (UNI) China will continue to strengthen cooperation within the BRICS framework despite US President-elect Donald Trump's threats to impose 100% tariffs on all BRICS member states, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Tuesday.
On Saturday, Trump warned BRICS countries that he would impose 100% tariffs if they did not abandon plans to create an alternative currency to the US dollar. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in early November that it was too early to discuss the creation of a single BRICS currency.
"China is ready to continue working with its BRICS partners to deepen practical cooperation in various fields and contribute more to sustainable and stable global economic growth," Lin told a briefing.
