UK transport secretary admits to misleading police 10 years ago

London, Nov 29 (UNI) UK Transport Secretary Louise Haigh has admitted to being charged with misleading police in a mugging case nearly 10 years ago, the Sky News broadcaster has reported.
Haigh appeared before a magistrates court six months before the 2015 general election after falsely reporting a theft of an employer-provided cellphone to law enforcement.
In a statement to the broadcaster, the secretary said that in 2013 she was mugged during a night out. Following the incident, Haigh reported it to the police, listing all the items that she believed stolen, including a work cellphone.
