Russia-US Subsea bridge design may involve 3 parallel tunnels: Scientist

Moscow, Nov 4 (UNI/SPUTNIK) The most promising tunnel design between Russia and the United States involves two transport lines and a service line between them, the Russian scientist and author of the project, Victor Razbegin, told Sputnik.
In October, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Russian special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, announced that an intercontinental tunnel might be built between Russia's Far East and the US's Alaska via the Bering Strait using Boring Company technology. He estimated the cost of the construction at less than USD 8 billion and the duration at less than eight years.
"The most promising design at the moment involves two single-track transport tunnels and one service tunnel in the middle with links between them for maintenance. But other options are also being considered," Razbegin said.
