Pakistan says India shying away from talks to avoid discussing Kashmir issue

Islamabad, Jun 29 (UNI) Pakistan said today that India was shying away from talks with Islamabad to avoid discussions on Kashmir and other issues. Pakistan Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said "It is actually India which is shying away as it knows that it has to discuss Kashmir and other issues on the dialogue table." Contradicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent statement in which he placed the onus of stalled talks on Pakistan, Mr Aziz said Islamabad was not refraining from talks with its neighbor, reported Radio Pakistan. Mr Aziz said Pakistan had plans for extensive talks with India on issues such as Kashmir, Siachen, Sir Creek, economic cooperation, trade, visas and the detainment of fishermen, amongst others. The relations between the two counties have deteriorated after Pathankot attack and all efforts to revive the peace talks have failed. In an exclusive interview to a TV channel on Monday, Mr Modi had said that India had to be always alert while dealing with Pakistan and there could never be any laxity in this regard. In reply to a question on Indo-Pak ties, Mr Modi had said that due to his diplomatic efforts, the world had seen India was not reluctant to engage with Pakistan. Mr Modi had said that there were different types of forces operating in Pakistan and India would engage with democratically elected government in Islamabad. UNI XC SHK 2200
