New Delhi, Jun 28 (UNI) The Indian Railways on Sunday clarified that it is not possible to run regular trains under the current circumstances, and if necessary, the number of special trains being run at the present time will be increased.
'It is not possible to run the regular trains under the old time table in the current situation due to COVID-19. Therefore, the amount is being returned by cancelling all the tickets booked till April 14 in these regular trains,' the Railways Ministry said in a statement here.
It said this decision will not affect the existing special passenger trains. After the lockdown, 115 pairs of special passenger trains started by the Indian Railways will continue to run. After assessing the situation in July, it can be decided to run more special passenger trains.
