NPCIL and Maharashtra Govt ink MOU to set up nuclear power plants

Chennai, Nov 17 (UNI) Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) and Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA) to explore possibilities of cooperation in co-development of nuclear-based power generation plants in the western state.
The MoU was signed in the presence of the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis by Bhuwan Chandra Pathak, Chairman and Managing Director, NPCIL, Radhakrishnan B., IAS, Chairman and Managing Director, MAHAGENCO and Aman Mittal, Jt-CEO, MITRA.
Speaking on the occasion, Fadnavis expressed happiness at the fact that Maharashtra was the first state in the country to enter into such an MoU. He lauded the initiative and assured full support and cooperation from the Government of Maharashtra in this regard.
The MoU paves a path for further discussions on collaboration for setting up state-of-the-art nuclear power generation plants in the state.
This strategic partnership reinforces NPCIL’s commitment to deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable nuclear power, supporting India’s long-term clean energy and energy-security objectives.
