OBC leader Bhujbal slams Marathas' reservation demand

Nashik, Sep 12 (UNI) State Food and Supplies Minister and National President of the OBC Leaders' Samata Parishad, Chhagan Bhujbal, has demanded that educated leaders of the Maratha community explain why they need reservation specifically from the OBC category. Bhujbal made these remarks while speaking to reporters in Nashik before going to visit the family of Bharat Karad, a youth from Latur district who committed suicide over the OBC reservation issue.
The minister questioned why the Maratha community is demanding reservation exclusively from the OBC category when they have previously received reservations from the economically backward classes category as well. Bhujbal emphasized that educated and experienced leaders of the Maratha community should provide a truthful answer to this question for everyone's understanding, specifically addressing why they are focused solely on the OBC category.
The minister further noted that three commissions have previously rejected reservation for the Maratha community, and courts have clearly expressed that the community cannot be given Kunbi certificates. Bhujbal pointed out that many Chief Ministers from the Maratha community have held office, and some have even served at the central level, yet they have not addressed this issue adequately.
