Odisha Police launches multiple operations against habitual criminals, focuses on skill development:DGP

Bhubaneswar, Oct 16 (UNI) Odisha Police have launched several operations—"Prahar," "Gaja," "Chakra," "Agni," and "Garuda", to take strict action against hardened and habitual criminals, Odisha DGP Y. B. Khurania said.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 70th Professional Skill Competition for police personnel, held today at the Reserve Police Ground in Cuttack, the DGP highlighted efforts against interstate robbery gangs, illegal firearms trade, ganja smuggling, brown sugar seizures, and ganja cultivation. Khurania emphasized that crime prevention and investigation are the primary responsibilities of the police and stressed that accurate investigations are crucial to ensure offenders do not escape justice. He added that applying scientific and professional knowledge is essential for effective law enforcement.
On POCSO cases, the DGP noted that proper investigative methods, professional proficiency, and the use of scientific and technical skills help identify offenders quickly, ensuring strict punishment. He reiterated that maintaining communal harmony, preventing violence, and ensuring the safety of women and children remain the top priorities of the police, assuring citizens of their safety and protection.
