Opposition busy in Disaster Tourism: Thackeray Jr

Opposition busy in Disaster Tourism: Thackeray Jr

Thane, Jul 12 (UNI) Maharashtra Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray came down heavily on the
Opposition BJP saying that the leaders of the party were busy in disaster tourism while the ruling party was focusing on keeping the people of the state fit.
Talking to the media at Kalyan town of the district on Saturday after reviewing the status of corona pandemic in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and the measures taken by the civic bodies in the MMR to tackle the situation, he said, "When we are focusing on keeping people fit, the Opposition is busy with disaster tourism here."
While replying to Leader of the Opposition Devendra Fadnavis' criticism of the poor health system in Kalyan-Dombivili region just a few days back, Aaditya said, "As the Opposition is doing health and disaster tourism, we are focused on how to help people."
He said that if the pandemic situation in the state gets worse, then the only Opposition party (BJP) will be happy.
He further said that against the backdrop of the corona outbreak, the 'Chase the Virus' campaign will be intensified in Thane-Kalyan-Dombivili municipal areas on the lines of Dharavi to curb the growing number of Covid-19 cases.
The minister observed that if corona can be brought under control even in densely populated areas like Dharavi, then this is not impossible in the Kalyan-Dombivili region, he said.
For this, he suggested intensifying the 'Chase the Virus' campaign by putting more emphasis on contact tracing and increasing the number of tests.
He advised not to panic even if the numbers appear to have increased.
Aaditya said that jumbo health systems are also being set up in Kalyan-Dombivili, Bhiwandi, Ambernath and Ulhasnagar on the lines of Mumbai and Thane and instructed the administration to be vigilant so that no citizen is deprived of treatment.

On this occasion, Kiran Dighavkar, a BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation officer, shared a detailed information on the Dharavi pattern and gave some useful suggestions.
"Keeping the death rate low is the priority of the government," said state and district guardian minister Eknath Shinde.
Prior to the media conference, Aaditya reviewed the corona situation in Kalyan-Dombivili, Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi and Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation areas of the MMR.
