Srinagar, Nov 7 (UNI) For the second consecutive day J&K Assembly was disrupted over the passing of a resolution for the restoration of its special status.
The resolution which was passed through voice vote on Wednesday called upon the Central Government to initiate dialogue with elected representatives of the people of J&K for restoration of special status, constitutional guarantees and to work out constitutional mechanisms for restoring these provisions.
As soon as the legislators assembled this morning for the day, the Speaker asked MLA Baramulla Javaid Baig to initiate the discussion on Lieutenant Governor's address. However, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma stood up and referred to yesterday's resolution saying it was illegal and unconstitutional.
In the meantime, MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed reached the well of the House with a banner which read “We demand restoration of Arrival 370 and release of prisoners."
This annoyed BJP legislators who tried to snatch the banner. A scuffle broke in the well as several legislators jumped in the well of the House.
In the pandemonium, the Speaker adjourned the House for 15 minutes.
Amid the pandemonium, the House was adjourned by the Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.
