Over 97 lakh LPG cylinders delivered in 2 days amid West Asia crisis: Centre

New Delhi, May 8 (UNI): Amid the ongoing geopolitical crisis in West Asia, the Centre on Friday sought to reassure citizens that fuel supplies remain stable and maritime operations are continuing normally, even as it intensified measures to prevent panic buying, curb black marketing, and facilitate the safe return of Indian nationals from the Gulf region.
At an inter-ministerial media briefing held at the National Media Centre here, senior officials from the Ministries of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and External Affairs outlined a series of emergency measures undertaken to ensure uninterrupted supplies of LPG, petrol, diesel, and natural gas, while also detailing efforts to protect Indian seafarers and nationals stranded in conflict-hit regions.
The government urged citizens not to indulge in panic buying of petrol, diesel, or LPG and advised them to rely only on official sources for information amid reports of misinformation and rumours surrounding fuel shortages.
