Srinagar, Jun 30 (UNI) Pakistani troops again violated ceasefire and fired mortars with other weapons, targeting forward posts and civilian areas at the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar sector in the frontier district of Kupwara late Monday evening, a Defence ministry spokesman said.
Pak troops initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation along LoC in Tanghdar sector last evening, Col Rajdesh Kalia said.
He said firing mortars and other weapons, Pak troops targeted forward posts besides civilian areas in the sector. However, there was no report of any loss of life or damage to property in the Pak firing.
Col Kalia said befitting response was given by Indian troops, targeting Pak army posts.
Director General of Police (DGP) and senior Army officer have recently said that Pakistani troops are violating ceasefire to provide cover to militants to sneak into this side before the infiltration routes are closed due to heavy snowfall. However, they said troops guarding the LoC are already on high alert to foil any infiltration attempt by militants waiting at launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) to sneak into this side.
