Panchayat Pradhan beaten to death, TMC blames "new BJP members"

Burdwan, June 7 (UNI) A 60-year-old Pradhan of a Trinamul Congress-governed Panchayat died on Sunday morning, days after he was allegedly beaten up during a village meeting in East Burdwan.
The deceased's family has accused local 'new BJP” members of luring him out of his home and assaulting him with lathis, rods, and bricks.
The deceased has been identified as Mihir Ghosh, TMC’s area committee president in Mongolkote here. According to a complaint filed by his son Prabir Ghosh on June 1, Mihir was called out of home on the night of May 31 for a discussion over accounts of a local puja at their native Puratanhat. After the discussion ended, the accused allegedly attacked him and beat him severely, causing serious injuries.
