Panna's diamonds get GI tag in Madhya Pradesh

Panna (MP), Nov 14 (UNI) The Geographical Indication tag has been granted to diamonds that emerge from this district which is famous in the world over for its diamond mines. With the tag, diamond prices and their importance will increase further.
"The value of the gems will spurt at the international level. Cooperation by the district administration, the Mining Department and the state dispensation plus Padma Shri Rajni Kant's efforts and the Lucknow-based Human Welfare Society's GI technical assistance resulted in the tag," Diamond Officer Ravi Patel told UNI on Friday.
The Human Welfare Society submitted an application in June 2023 to an institute in Chennai which works under the union Commerce and Industry Ministry and issues GI tags after comprehensive scrutiny. Panna is known as the Diamond City. Gems from this district have a light green colour and carbon line.

HC fines litigant with Rs 2 lakh for abusing court process, calls for curb on vexatious pleadings

Srinagar, Dec 10 (UNI) The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh dismissed a petition filed by 82-year-old Abdul Gani Bhat and imposed exemplary costs of Rs 2 lakh on him while calling him a habitual and vexatious litigant who has repeatedly abused the judicial process by filing frivolous cases against judges, court officials and even his own daughter-in-law.

IIT BHU to set up green hydrogen centre of excellence

Varanasi, Dec 10 (UNI) Under the Uttar Pradesh Green Hydrogen Policy-2024, the state government has granted approval to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT) Gorakhpur to jointly establish a Green Hydrogen Centre of Excellence.
