PM makes pitch for 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', says Army gave befitting reply to those who dared

New Delhi, Aug 15 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday gave a call for 'Make in India ' and 'Make for world' for a 'Atmanirbhar Bharat ' while asserting that Indian soldiers have given a befitting reply to anyone who dared 'from LOC to LAC'.

Addressing the Nation from the ramparts of Red Fort on the occasion of the 74th Independence day, the PM expressed confidence that the country will tide over the challenge posed by the Corona pandemic, saying that three probable candidates for Corona vaccine are at different stages of testing in India.

Saluting efforts by Corona warriors in helping the country fight the pandemic, the PM, delivering his seventh straight Independence Day speech, said, 'In this extraordinary time of Corona, our doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, ambulance personnel, sweepers, policemen, servicemen and many other people are working continuously round the clock, with the spirit of Seva Parmo Dharma.'

He also listed out a number of reform measures undertaken by his government which has resulted in a record Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country last year.

The PM also stated the government's commitment to hold Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir once the delimitation exercise is complete.

Highlighting the importance to make India self-reliant, the PM said that it was not just a word but should be a “mantra” for the people.

'In the midst of the Corona pandemic, 130 crore Indians have pledged to build a AatmaNirbhar Bharat. It is the demand of the time that India's contribution to the world increases; for this, India must become 'Aatma Nirbhar'.

'Atmanirbhar Bharat has not only became a word, but a mantra for all Indians.
I am confident that India will realize this dream. I am confident of the abilities, confidence and potential of my fellow Indians. Once we decide to do something, we do not rest till we achieve that goal,'the PM said.

'Becoming self-reliant is essential. A self reliant India is a confident India,'the PM said.

Calling for making India produce goods and services for the world, he gave a call for 'Make in India' and 'make for the world.

'Several big companies of the world are turning to India and the will have to go ahead with the mantra of Make in India as well as Make for World. We have to stop this game of giving raw material to world and bring back finished goods. It has to be the other way round 'he said.

“India has always believed that the entire world is one family. While we focus on economic growth and development, humanity must retain a central role in this process and our journey,” he added.

Making a pitch for 'Vocal for local, the PM said, 'It's time to be vocal for local.
The mindset of free India should be 'vocal for local'. We should appreciate our local products, if we don't do this then our products will not get the opportunity to do better and will not get encouraged.'

The PM said many concerns are raised about 'Atmanirbhar Bharat ' and acknowledged challenges ahead.

He, however, said that there are "crores of solutions" offered by the country's citizens to "lakhs of challenges".

Describing a self reliant agriculture as key to 'Atmanirbhar Bharat ' the PM said his government has freed farmers of their constraints, and they can now trade their products freely on their terms.

In an apparent reference to the clash between Indian and Chinese forces on the India China border, the PM said, 'From the LOC to the LAC, whoever has raised an eye on the sovereignty of the country, the country, the Army of the country has responded to it in the same language.'

On the occasion, the PM also launched the National Digital Health Mission, which he said will bring a revolution in the country’s health sector.

“You will get information about every test, every disease, which doctor prescribed you which medicine and when and your reports under one health ID,” the Prime Minister said.
