Pneumonia cases surge four-fold at Pune's Kamla Nehru Hospital

Pune, Sep 12 (UNI) Health officials in Pune reported a four-fold increase in the number of pneumonia patients being treated at the city’s Kamla Nehru Hospital over the past few weeks.
Experts attribute the surge to changing weather conditions, rising pollution levels, and an increase in infections. The rise is particularly concerning among children under the age of five.
Doctors have urged parents to seek immediate medical attention if children exhibit symptoms such as a cold, cough, fever, weakness, or low oxygen levels. They stressed the importance of preventive measures, including timely vaccination, maintaining hygiene, using warm clothing when necessary, and providing a nutritious diet to protect young children from pneumonia.
