Ramallah, West Bank, Oct 13 (UNI) President Pranab Mukherjee held talks with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas here, in which he reiterated India's economic and political support for Palestine.
During the talks with President Mahmoud Abbas, Mr. Mukherjee reiterated India’s stand that it supports a peaceful solution to the crisis based on negotiations and UN Security Council resolutions. , Secretary (East) in the external affairs ministry Anil Wadhwal told media persons after the discussions between the two sides.
Mr Wadhwa said that at the talks between the two sides, India assured the Palestinian side that it would continue to support the United Nations resolution on the formation of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 border.
During the talks, India also announced projects for capacity building in Gaza and West Bank.
Mr Wadhwaa said that the President handed over a cheque of 5 million Dollars to the Palestinian government as budgetary support.
Both countries have also announced five projects worth 17.79 million Dollars which will help in capacity building in the Palestinian territories.
These include a 12 million dollars techno park, a 4.5 million dollars Palestine Institute for Diplomacy and a 1 million dollars India-Pakistan Centre for Excellence in Gaza.
