Chennai, Mar 18 (UNI) President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday
visited the famous statue of Saint Poet Thiruvalluvar and the
Vivekananda Rock in Kanniyakumari district of Tamil Nadu.
Earlier, Ms Murmu arrived in Kanniyakumari by an IAF helicopter
from Thiruvananthapuram and was received at the helipad by
Governor R.N.Rvi, Tamil Nadu IT Minister Mano Thangaraj, District
Collector Sridhar, District Superintendent of Police and other officials.
Later, she visited the iconic Thiruvalluvar statue, Vivekananda rock
and the Vivekananda Kendra in a boat.
Administrators of the Vivekananda Kendra welcomed the President
at the Vivekananda Rock.
She also spent some time at the meditation hall.
Later, she left for Thiruvananthapuram by the helicopter.
Police have made elaborate security arrangements in view of her visit,
as a large number of people are expected to throng these tourist spots
in the weekend.
Tourists were barred entry into the places visited by the President during
her visit till 1200 noon after which they were allowed.
