Protest in Kalyan against ban on chicken and mutton sales on I-Day

Kalyan (Maharashtra), Aug 15 (UNI) Opposing the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation’s decision to ban the sale of chicken and mutton on Independence Day, members of the Khatik Association and Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) staged a protest in front of the municipal headquarters.
Police took preventive action against the leaders of the Shiv Sena and the Dharmveer Khatik Association, detaining them.
Municipal Commissioner had issued orders to halt chicken and mutton sales, as well as close slaughterhouses, on Independence Day. In protest, demonstrators gathered at the municipal office, with some even bringing live chickens. They released chickens inside the building and warned that they would continue selling chicken and mutton despite the orders.
