Pune cops face charges of inaction over women's complaint; political pressure mounts

Pune, Aug 4 ( UNI) A day after three women formally complained against Pune police personnel of forcibly entering their house and sexual misconduct, the police are yet to act in the case, sparking political backlash.
The women have accused police personnel from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Kothrud police stations of trespassing their residence, conducting an illegal three-hour interrogation without any warrant, and subjecting them to caste-based abuse and sexual misconduct.
The incident involves a 25-year-old woman who had fled to Pune due to alleged domestic violence. Three women activists in Pune sheltered her. Subsequently, a retired police officer related to the woman's in-laws allegedly enlisted the help of Kothrud police to trace her.
