Punjab and Haryana HC halts AAP’s Land Pooling Policy amid controversy

Chandigarh, Aug 7 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court has imposed a temporary stay on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s Land Pooling Policy, a decision hailed by BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh as a major win for Punjab’s farmers. The court’s ruling came during ongoing hearings, with the state government directed to submit a response within four weeks.
Chugh criticized the policy as legally flawed, lacking farmer consent, and missing critical Environmental and Social Impact Assessments. He labeled it a “deceptive scheme” aimed at transferring fertile farmland to real estate groups allegedly linked to AAP leadership. “This policy is a cover to benefit select developers, not Punjab’s farmers,” Chugh stated, alleging it involves a secretive financial arrangement worth billions.
He further accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of prioritizing external interests over Punjab’s agricultural community, questioning his leadership’s credibility. Chugh warned that if the AAP government does not abandon the policy, the BJP would mobilize widespread protests to support affected farmers.
