Punjab Information Commission orders SIT probe into issuance of Police clearance to fugitive

Chandigarh, Sep 3 (UNI) The Punjab State Information Commission has directed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the issuance of a police clearance certificate to an individual facing criminal charges, following revelations in a Right to Information (RTI) case hearing.

A Commission spokesperson disclosed that the order was issued during the hearing of Appeal Case No. 3820/2023, filed by Geetika, daughter of Anil Kumar from Gurdwara Marg, Makhu Tehsil Zira, Ferozepur district, against the Public Information Officer, Office of ADCP-3, and the First Appellate Authority, Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana.
