Hubballi, Aug 9 (UNI) Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi today strongly criticised leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for his recent remarks against the Election Commission, terming them unfounded and irresponsible.
Speaking to media here, Joshi said Gandhi’s comments had no factual basis and were intended to mislead the public. “There are laws in the country...without any basis, he is alleging, and his allegations are baseless, bogus, immature, and speak of his irresponsibility,” the senior BJP leader remarked.
Joshi asserted that constitutional institutions like the Election Commission function independently and in accordance with the law, and attempts to cast aspersions on them without evidence undermine public trust. “Such statements are not only politically motivated but also show a lack of respect for democratic processes,” he added.
The Union Minister maintained that political differences should be addressed through legitimate democratic channels rather than, what he described as, “making sweeping and unverified allegations in public domain.”
Gandhi, in his recent public address, had alleged that the Election Commission was not functioning impartially, a charge the BJP has repeatedly denied.
