Rajkumar Hirani makes streaming debut with 'Pritam and Pedro' on JioHotstar

Bengaluru, May 19 (UNI) Acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is set to make his streaming debut with ‘Pritam and Pedro’, a new long-format series premiering on JioHotstar on July 3.
The makers on Tuesday unveiled details of the project, describing it as a quirky and emotionally layered story that begins with an unusual mystery involving an abandoned ATM on a beach and two unlikely men caught in unexpected circumstances.
Directed by Avinash Arun, the series promises Hirani’s trademark blend of humour, warmth and human-centric storytelling while exploring a rooted yet unpredictable narrative.
Speaking about the collaboration, Alok Jain, Head of Hindi & English Entertainment Business (Streaming, TV & Studios) at JioStar, said the platform was excited to partner with Hirani for his first streaming venture.
“At JioHotstar, we believe some of the most compelling stories are the ones that feel deeply rooted yet universally entertaining. Stories filled with warmth, humour, emotion and human connection have always had a special place in audiences’ hearts,” he said.
Jain added that Hirani’s storytelling style had consistently resonated with audiences and that ‘Pritam and Pedro’ would offer viewers a fresh and immersive long-format entertainment experience.
Sharing his thoughts on the project, Hirani said he has always enjoyed stories where contrasting personalities are forced to come together and navigate life in unexpected ways.
“Pritam and Pedro have a lot of humour, warmth and madness in that sense. The long-format space gave us the opportunity to spend more time with the characters and really explore their journey,” he said.
The series marks a significant collaboration between cinematic storytelling and large-scale streaming entertainment, with the makers keeping the larger plot tightly under wraps ahead of its release.
