Rajnath calls for faster induction of indigenous defence systems

Hyderabad, June 12 (UNI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said India must equip its armed forces with state-of-the-art systems in adequate numbers and within stipulated timelines to effectively address future security challenges.
Inaugurating the Advanced Weapon System Complex at the Defence Research and Development Organisation's (DRDO) Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) in Hyderabad, Rajnath Singh called for the rapid transition of indigenous defence technologies from development to large-scale production.
Stressing that technological advancement must be complemented by robust manufacturing capabilities, he urged DRDO, the armed forces and industry partners to function as an integrated ecosystem to accelerate the induction of indigenous technologies and bridge the gap between development and production.

Bengaluru, July 15 (UNI) Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka on Wednesday escalated the BJP's offensive against the Congress government, petitioning Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot to stall the state's proposed Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) policy and ordering an independent probe into the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede, alleging the government was pursuing an "unconstitutional vote-bank agenda" while attempting to shield those responsible for the tragedy.

Chennai, July 15 (UNI) Former Minister and DMK heavyweight V Senthilbalaji, presently a Legislator elected from Coimbatore South constituency, has written to the police stating he has not absconded and that his name does not figure in the FIR in the case pertaining to alleged attempts to induce a ruling TVK MLA with a Rs 35 crore bribery offer, even as one more person was arrested on Wednesday taking the total to 12.
