Rajpur–Sonarpur councillor held in extortion case; relief materials seized in separate probe

Kolkata, June 11 (UNI) A Trinamool Congress (TMC) councillor of the Rajpur–Sonarpur Municipality on the southern fringes of Kolkata was arrested on extortion charges.
Bibhas Mukhopadhyay, popularly known as Monu and the councillor of Ward Number 4 of the Rajpir-Sonarpur Municipality, was arrested from a hotel in Garia by a police team, a senior officer of the Baruipur Police District said.
The police team that arrested him also took him to his residence and office and carried out searches at several locations.
