RBI gets CII-IGBC Platinum Rating for incorporating green features in its Hostel building

Mumbai, Jun 29 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the country's central bank, was awarded today with CII-IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) Platinum Rating under IGBC Green Homes Rating System for
implementing green features right from conceptual stage in its Hostel building here, thereby enabling the project to achieve IGBC Platinum Rating.
The prestigious CII-IGBC Platinum Plaque along with Green Certificate was presented to RBI executive director, Dr Deepali Pant Joshi, and Prof S Mahendra Dev, director, by V Suresh, chairman of CII-IGBC Policy & Advocacy Committee, in a programme here.
According to CII-IGBC Green Homes Rating System, RBI Hostel Building includes 100 per cent rainwater harvesting, 75 per cent water savings through efficient water fixtures, 100 per cent organic waste being treated on-site, 100 per cent waste water treated on-site, preservation of existing trees, natural landscape, 100 per
cent daylight Hostel rooms, good natural ventilation and cross ventilation, solar-powered common area lighting, efficient envelope, shading devices and solar hot water system.
Mr Suresh highlighted that financial institutes in the country are at the forefront in adopting IGBC Green Building Standards.
IGBC green homes saves energy between 30 to 40 per cent, water savings between 20 to 30 pc and enhance the quality of life and wellbeing of the occupants, he highlighted.
IGBC aspires to facilitate 10 billion sq ft of registered green building footprint by 2022, he added.
