Reddy accuses BJP of spreading misinformation against Telangana govt

Hyderabad/Mumbai, Nov 9 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has accused BJP leaders in Maharashtra of spreading false information about the Congress-led government in Telangana over the past few days.
Speaking to the media in Mumbai on Saturday, Reddy alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also joined in spreading falsehoods concerning the implementation of Congress's promises in Telangana.
"If Modi doesn't stop spreading lies, we will keep presenting the truth," Reddy stated. "That is why I have come here to inform the people of Maharashtra about the actual progress made in fulfilling the six key promises made to Telangana," a statement here said.
Reddy highlighted that Maharashtra has experienced one of the highest rates of farmer suicides and criticised both central and state governments for neglecting farmers' welfare.
"Modi tried to introduce laws to benefit major corporations like Adani and Ambani, but in Telangana, we have promised and delivered debt relief to farmers. We waived Rs 17,869 crore in loans for 2,222,067 farmers within 25 days."
He also noted that the Congress government in Telangana has created 50,000 government jobs within the first ten months of taking office and introduced the Mahalakshmi Scheme, which provides LPG cylinders for Rs. 500.
Additionally, around 50 lakh people have benefited from the 200 units of free electricity, while farmers are given a support price of Rs 500 per quintal of rice.
Reddy pointed out that over one crore women have taken advantage of free bus travel, for which the government allocated Rs 3,541 crore to the RTC.
To advance social justice, Reddy said that Telangana has conducted a caste census and passed a cabinet resolution for including this data in the 2025 national census. "We have demanded that the Modi government respect our state's efforts," he added.
Reddy also emphasised Maharashtra’s legacy as the birthplace of great leaders like Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Savitribai Phule, and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, urging voters to protect this legacy.
He accused Modi of relocating 17 major projects originally intended for Maharashtra to Gujarat and urged people to defeat the BJP in the upcoming elections, stating, "Reject those who have betrayed Maharashtra."
