Rocket maker Skyroot Aerospace reaches major milestone

Chennai, August 9 (UNI) The Indian space agency said private rocket maker Skyroot Aerospace has achieved a major milestone with the successful testing of the rocket’s first-stage motor.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said that the first static test of the KALAM 1200 motor — the first stage of Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 rocket — was successfully completed at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
“This is a major milestone in the configuration and realisation of systems for the Vikram-1 launch vehicle. The motor is an 11 m long, 1.7 m diameter monolithic composite motor with a propellant mass of 30 tonnes,” ISRO said.

Chennai, June 18 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government is taking all legal steps to halt Karnataka from constructing a new dam at Mekedatu across the river Cauvery, while promising firm efforts to prevent Kerala from constructing a new dam and to take up repair works in the Mullaiperiyar dam area to raise the storage level to 152 ft as per the Supreme Court orders, Governor R V Arlekar announced in the State Assembly on Thursday.
