SC seeks response on plea against changed darshan timings at Bankey Bihari temple

New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Monday sought responses from the State of Uttar Pradesh and the Court-constituted High-Powered Committee on a plea challenging the change in darshan timings and the discontinuation of Dehri Pooja at the Bankey Bihari Ji Maharaj Temple in Mathura.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice Vipul Pancholi was hearing a writ petition filed by the Management Committee of Thakur Shree Bankey Bihari Ji Maharaj Temple. Notice was issued to the respondents, returnable on January 7, 2026.
The petition has been filed by the Management Committee of the temple through Gopesh Goswami of Shayan Bhog Seva, along with Rajat Goswami. It assails decisions taken by the High-Powered Temple Management Committee, Vrindavan (Mathura), relating to the alteration of temple darshan timings and the discontinuation of the traditional Dehri Pooja.
