SCR operates Spl Sabarimala trains, appeals for passenger safety

Hyderabad, Dec 3 (UNI) South Central Railway (SCR) has announced the operation of several special trains for the convenience of pilgrims travelling to Sabarimala.

These trains will originate from various stations across the zone, including Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Kacheguda, Kakinada, Tirupati, and Nanded, with stops at multiple en-route stations to accommodate pilgrim passengers.

In light of safety concerns, SCR has issued a strict advisory to passengers, urging them to refrain from lighting camphor, performing Aarti, or using matchsticks and incense sticks inside train coaches.

Such activities, which are often part of religious rituals, are strictly prohibited as they pose a significant fire hazard, endangering human lives and railway property.

Carrying inflammable materials or lighting any kind of fire in trains or railway premises is a punishable offence under Sections 67, 154, 164, and 165 of the Railways Act, 1989. Violators can face imprisonment of up to three years, a fine, or both, and may also be held liable for any damage or injury caused.

To ensure compliance, SCR has intensified safety checks across its network, conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Commercial Department. Passengers are urged to cooperate with railway authorities and prioritize safety during their journey.

South Central Railway emphasised that these measures are necessary to provide a safe and secure travel experience for all passengers. Pilgrims and other travellers are requested to follow safety guidelines and contribute to making the journey safer for everyone, a SCR statement said on Tuesday.
