Shanta Kumar cautions against population explosion, calls for Uniform Civil Code

Dharamshala, Jan 22 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and former union Minister Shanta Kumar on Thursday said that spiritual leader Dhirendra Shastri is not only a religious storyteller but also a strong supporter of Indian nationalism.
Kumar while praising Dhirendra Shastri and describing him as a nationalist, he disagreed with the storyteller's sugestion that every Hindu family should have four children.
In a press statement, Shanta Kumar said that population explosion was the root cause of poverty and unemployment in the country and warned that increasing family size would create new problems rather than solve existing ones. He said that despite sustained efforts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the challenges of poverty and unemployment persisted mainly due to rapid population growth.
