Shiv Sena takes dig at PM Modi over India's response to Pak over Uri attack

Mumbai, Sep 26 (UNI) The Shiv Sena today took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over India's stance against Pakistan after a terror attack at a military base Uri in Jammu and Kashmir, fearing isolation in the world, saying Pakistani Prime Minister Nawab Sharif has started showing '56-inch chest'. Notably, during the 2014 General election campaign, Mr Modi had famously claimed at a poll rally in Uttar Pradesh that a '56-inch chest' can solve problems faced by the country. ''Notwithstanding India's claims that it has succeeded in isolating Pakistan in the world, its efforts have yielded little results other than mere 'lip service' by global powers, with no country backing India over the Uri attacks but just condemning this attack, in which 18 Army soldiers were killed,'' an editorial in the party mouthpiece 'Saamna' stated here. But, BJP's social media cell took out different meaning out of it, it noted. ''After the terrorist attacked the military base in Jammu and Kashmir, not a single country firmly backed India. On other hand, BJP's social media cell began spreading false messages like Russia had cancelled its military exercise with Pakistan, China was angry at Pakistan, but these were lies,'' it said and stated that in fact, China was firmly behind Pakistan. ''We (China) are with you (Pakistan) in case you have any war-like situation,'' it further said. Even a country like Indonesia was offering Pakistan defence equipment, it pointed and said Islamic Organisations were openly backing Pakistan. Nepal too wanted to maintain good relations with it (Pakistan), the Sena said. ''During the 1971 war with Bangladesh, Russia had sent its troops to India to support Indira Gandhi. We cannot see such a friendship today,'' it said. ''You (the BJP) may keep on shouting that Pakistan has been isolated. But all your efforts are ultimately futile. We have started fearing if it is India which has actually been isolated over the Uri attack,'' it said. ''Pakistan has already declared war against India. They have shed blood of our soldiers right from Pathankot to Uri while we are only gloating by issuing threats to Pakistan. Mere words won’t work now. It is time to give them a tit for tat reply,'' it added. UNI ST SS SB 2130
