Shreyas Talpade to essay the role of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in 'Azad Bharath'

Mumbai, Dec 13 (UNI) Actor Shreyas Talpade will be seen portraying freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in the upcoming historical drama 'Azad Bharath', which revisits India's independence struggle through the stories of its often-overlooked heroes.
Rupa Iyer's film 'Azad Bharat' is a poignant tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, his immortal legacy, and the Rani Jhansi Regiment he founded. The film centers on Neera Arya and countless other brave warriors whose stories are lost in history, yet who sacrificed their lives with indomitable courage for India's independence.
Alongside Talpade's portrayal of Netaji, veteran actor Suresh Oberoi will be seen as revolutionary Chhaju Ramji, while Rupa Iyer, in addition to playing Neera Arya, is also the film's director and producer. The national anthem featured in the film has been sung by Amruta Fadnavis.
Rupa Iyer shared her experience, saying, "I consider myself blessed because this film was made with God's inspiration. Whether it was the selection of the actors or my association with them, I received God's guidance at every step. Shreyas ji asked me why I thought he could play Netaji. I said that his versatility, ability to adapt to any character, and his sensitivity make him the perfect fit for the role. This film is a 'must-see' for the new generation, which keeps complaining despite having so many facilities. The story of Neera Arya, the Rani Jhansi Regiment, and all those unsung warriors tells how they were dedicated to the motherland since their teenage years, without any means, but with just passion."
Discussing the project, Amruta praised Roopa Iyer for expertly managing three roles: director, producer, and actor. She remarked, “It’s an honour to be here. Azad Bharath is a beautiful film, and it gloriously conveys the story of Neera Arya. Roopa Iyer has not only portrayed the character in the film but also directed and produced it. Wearing three hats in a single project is definitely commendable!"
The film is slated to release worldwide on January 2, 2026.
