Sinner marches into his maiden Wimbledon final

London, July 11 (UNI) Top seed Jannik Sinner marched into his maiden Wimbledon final with a commanding 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 victory over a physically struggling Novak Djokovic today, setting up a blockbuster title clash with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.
The 23-year-old Italian took just under two hours on Centre Court to complete a clinical demolition of the seven-time champion, who appeared hampered by a thigh issue sustained during his quarterfinal against Flavio Cobolli. Despite a brief third-set resurgence from the 38-year-old Serb, Sinner remained in firm control to reach his third consecutive Grand Slam final.
With the win, Sinner becomes the 11th man in the Open Era to reach the final of all four majors. He has now beaten Djokovic in five straight matches, including Grand Slam semifinals at the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and now Wimbledon.
The reigning US Open and Australian Open champion, Sinner broke Djokovic early and never looked back. Even as Djokovic took a medical timeout after the second set and led 3-0 in the third, Sinner responded by winning five consecutive games and served out the match without nerves, dropping just 17 points on serve throughout.
Sinner’s Wimbledon run has not been without drama. He struggled with injury himself after slipping in the fourth round against Grigor Dimitrov, but recovered swiftly to overpower Ben Shelton in the quarters and backed it up with his best performance of the fortnight against Djokovic.
The Italian will now face Alcaraz in July 13 final, a rematch of last month’s Roland Garros title clash where Sinner squandered three championship points. The Spaniard leads their head-to-head 8-4, but Sinner won their only prior grass-court duel at Wimbledon in 2022.
The high-stakes showdown between the top two seeds promises to be a thrilling chapter in one of tennis’s most electrifying rivalries.
