Six members of a family charred to death in Firozabad

Firozabad (UP), Nov 30 (UNI) Six members of a family were charred to death when a three stories house caught fire in Jasrana area of Firozabad district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Wednesday.
Police sources said that fire broke out in the house of one Raman Kumar Singh, a resident of Padham town late on Tuesday night. "As the fire tenders reached a bit late the fire took a formidable shape and spread in all the three stories of the building and the people trapped inside did not get the chance to escape," they said.
District Magistrate Ravi Ranjan and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashish Tiwari along with heavy police reached the spot and launched a rescue and relief operation.
"Fire tenders from Agra, Etah and Mainpuri were called and the fire was controlled after several hours. After getting the information of a family being trapped inside the house ADG Agra Rajiv Krishna also camped on the spot whole night and supervised the rescue operation," they said.
Police sources said that only a girl named Unnati could be saved with the help of the rope and the remaining members of the family were charred in the fire incident. "Those, who have been killed, have been identified as Raman's son Manoj Kumar (38), his wife Neeraj (35), son Harsh (12), Bharat (8), Shivani (32) and three-month-old Tejaswi. Head of the family Raman Kumar and his younger son Neeraj were not present in the house at the time of the incident," they said.
Police sources said that electronics, furniture, jewellery and other shops on the ground floor of the building were also gutted in the fire. "Prima facie it seems that fire broke out due to a short circuit," they said.
District Magistrate Ravi Ranjan said that an inquiry will be conducted in the fire incident. Confirming six deaths he said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the incident and has conveyed sympathies towards the victims family.
He said that financial assistance would be extended to the bereaved family from the CM Relief Fund.
