Soldier killed in an explosion in J&K’s Kupwara

Srinagar, Dec 16 (UNI) A soldier was killed in an explosion in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday at Putaha Khan Gali in the Trehgam sector, where Havildar Zubair Ahmad of the 13 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry sustained critical injuries in the blast. He was immediately evacuated to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
While initial reports suggested that the soldier had been killed in a landmine explosion, defence officials clarified that the blast occurred during road construction work in the area. They said the soldier was accidentally hit by a splinter from the explosion.
