Student held for bomb threat emails linked to NGO with Political ties: Delhi Police

New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) Delhi Police on Tuesday claimed that a school student, who was recently apprehended for allegedly sending bomb threats to more than 400 schools in the National Capital, is linked to an NGO supported by a political party.
Addressing the media, Special CP Law and Order Madhup Tiwari said, “Since 12th February, schools have been receiving bomb threats through mass emails. These emails were sent using advanced technological methods.”
“Due to the use of VPNs and other techniques, it was not easy to achieve a breakthrough. However, on 8th January 2025, when we received the latest email, we identified a technical window that allowed us to trace the juvenile responsible for sending the threat emails. A forensic probe of his mobile device revealed that he had sent emails to more than 400 schools,” the Special CP said.
He further stated that during the investigation, it was discovered that the juvenile's family is associated with an NGO, which, in turn, has connections to a political party.
“When we profiled the family of the juvenile as part of the investigation, we found that one of his parents is connected to an organisation that has significant ties with an NGO. This NGO is closely linked to a particular political party,” Madhup added.
“We are investigating whether the NGO connected to the political party has any involvement in this case. We are also examining whether there is a political motive behind these threats aimed at creating unrest in Delhi,” he said.
