Telangana leads the way in manufacturing and AI, says Sanjay Kumar

Hyderabad, Oct 10 (UNI) Telangana is positioning itself at the forefront of India’s manufacturing and AI revolution, said Sanjay Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, Department of ITE&C and Industries & Commerce
In his address at the inaugural session of CII Telangana’s 21st MAN’EXE-2025 conference, themed “Building Resilience: Overcoming Disruptions and Ensuring the Future Growth of Manufacturing,” held here on Friday, Sanjay Kumar highlighted Telangana’s vision to become a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047 and emphasized the role of manufacturing in doubling the state’s contribution to the national GDP from 5 per cent to 10 per cent.
He outlined upcoming initiatives including a global-quality AI Hub, Skill University, and industrial parks for MSMEs and women entrepreneurs, underscoring the government’s focus on innovation, quality, and inclusive growth.
Industry leaders shared insights on AI and advanced manufacturing practices.
Bhuvan Lodha, CEO of Mahindra Group’s AI Division, stressed that AI has become essential across productivity, quality, supply chain, and operations, citing Mahindra’s adoption of digital twins, predictive maintenance, and automated quality checks. He also highlighted the need for ethical, scalable AI to strengthen India’s manufacturing competitiveness.
R Sivaprasad Reddy, Chairman of CII Telangana, emphasized sustaining a 15% annual growth in manufacturing to raise its share of India’s GDP from 17% to 25%, calling for collaboration between government, industry, and private players. VS Ram of Mahindra & Mahindra noted the transition from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0, where human intelligence and machine precision combine to create smarter, safer, and more sustainable factories.
Prof Chandan Chowdhury of ISB highlighted the importance of women’s participation and workforce transformation in achieving India’s vision of a Viksit Bharat. ISB offered to collaborate with Telangana on a sector-specific report to accelerate economic growth.
C Shashidhar Reddy, MD of Shakti Hormann Ltd, praised Telangana’s proactive policies and predicted the state’s emergence as a national hub for diverse manufacturing segments, citing Hyderabad’s steel door industry as a successful example.

Mutual fund industry’s AUM spikes to Rs 79 87 lakh cr in October: AMFI Data
