Three-day International conference on Democracy begins in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) Hosted by Election Commission of India (ECI) in collaboration with International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), a three-day Indian International Conference on Democracy & Election Management 2026 (IICDEM-2026) began on Wednesday at Bharat Mandapam. Around 100 international delegates from 70 countries are taking part in the first-ever global conference on democracy organised at the aegis of the Indian election commission.
The event will witness over 40 bilateral meetings between Election Management Bodies (EMBs), which will also see the primary discussion on cooperation and exchange of ideas confronting the election systems and election management bodies (EMBs) around the world.
The ECI, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alongside Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi welcomed the dignitaries.
