Varanasi woman inspector, constable arrested in Rs 10,000 bribe case

Varanasi, Oct 17 (UNI) A woman inspector posted at the Kotwali police station in Varanasi was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO) team today while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
The accused, Inspector Sumitra Devi, was arrested along with a female constable, Archana Rai, who acted as the intermediary in receiving the bribe.
According to officials, Inspector Devi allegedly demanded the money from a complainant, Meraj, in exchange for removing his name from an ongoing investigation.
