White-collar terrorism has emerged as a National security threat: Experts

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 14 (UNI) The recent blast at Delhi’s Red Fort has raised alarm among national security agencies, following revelations that educated professionals, including individuals associated with medical and academic institutions, may be involved.
Authorities describe this as part of a growing trend termed “white-collar terrorism” a form of extremism that exploits legitimate institutions in education, research, and healthcare to operate undetected. Investigators report that the accused allegedly stockpiled explosives, held clandestine meetings within educational premises, and leveraged their professional credibility to avoid suspicion.
Officials warn that this marks a shift from traditional underground networks to operations conducted within respected institutions. According to Cyber experts here, today’s extremists often hide in plain sight. Professionals with social trust have access to chemicals, communication channels, and technical expertise, making it difficult for authorities to detect and dismantle such networks.
