Woman sub-inspector arrested for taking Rs 45,000 bribe in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Jan 13 (UNI) A woman sub-inspector posted in Ghaziabad has been caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Organization team while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 45,000, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The accused officer, Bhuvaneshwari Singh, had earlier come into the limelight after participating in the encounter of a criminal on September 23, 2025.
According to officials, the Anti-Corruption Team recovered the bribe amount from Bhuvaneshwari during the trap operation on Tuesday. As the team took her into custody, she attempted to cover her face with a dupatta. She was allegedly demanding money in the name of taking action in a dowry-related case. The incident pertains to the reporting police outpost under Sahibabad police station. Notably, this is the second time that Sub-Inspector Bhuvaneshwari Singh has been caught taking a bribe.
The complainant, Rampal Saini, a resident of Vrindavan in the Sahibabad area, said he was extremely frightened and helpless. “This is a police matter. I am a daily wage labourer. I should not have been harassed. The Anti-Corruption Team has done a very good job. If any legal action was required, it should have been done honestly,” he said.
